AI Product Engineer

New York City or South Africa·Full-Time

We're looking for a principled, full-stack AI Product Engineer who starts with the user problem and builds end-to-end - AI agents, product UX, data pipelines, backend APIs. You'll work directly with founders and customers to ship features that insurance marketers use to make real decisions. The ideal candidate loves to build, has strong product instinct, and can balance rapid software development with great user experiences. 3-6 years of production experience required.

What you’ll do

  • Own features end-to-end: start with the user problem, then design, build, and ship - AI agents, product UX, data pipelines, backend APIs.
  • Ship end-to-end product features across backend APIs, frontend UX, and AI agent workflows.
  • Co-design features and capabilities with the CTO, CEO, and customers using the Fount platform.
  • Build and evolve AI agents and tools that turn marketing and insurance data into decisions and actions.
  • Own product areas in production: metrics, performance, reliability, and incident response.
  • Partner directly with the CTO to build a durable technical foundation, high-quality code, and sustained velocity.

What we’re looking for

  • 3-6 years shipping production full-stack systems - principled and pragmatic engineer.
  • Python, TypeScript, React/Next.js, Postgres, S3 (strong preference).
  • Built and shipped AI agents and LLM-powered products in production.
  • Uses AI tools aggressively to multiply output - and can build without them. Speed and leverage matter, but the foundation is strong engineering judgment and simple, well-understood code.
  • Strong product instinct - you care about what the user experiences, not just what the code does.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and making product calls.
  • High autonomy and clear written communication.

Nice to have

  • Insurance, fintech, or marketing analytics experience.
  • Data pipeline experience (DuckDB, dbt, Dagster, Airflow).
  • Former founder or early startup engineer - zero-to-one experience, small team, high agency.

Interview process

  1. 1.Intro Call - Quick call with a founder to assess mutual fit.
  2. 2.Technical Assignment and Discussion - Technical assignment presented to candidate to complete, followed by a feedback session led by the candidate on the work produced.
  3. 3.Co-Work Session - You will work with the Fount team for a few hours on a specified day to assess ways of working compatibility.
  4. 4.Contracting and Onboarding.
