Fount's story starts with an obvious but complex observation that our founders made while building actuarial data science systems for large insurance companies. Insurance marketers are fighting with one hand tied behind their backs and the entire insurance value chain suffers. Despite sitting at the most critical point in the insurance value chain—customer acquisition—they lack visibility into the key attributes, analyses, behaviors, and characteristics that actually matter for economic success in insurance.
This isn't just a marketing problem. When acquisition is inefficient, it creates ripple effects throughout the entire insurance operation: higher customer acquisition costs, higher churn, misaligned products, poor risk selection, misaligned pricing, and ultimately, unsustainable unit economics.
